This is an excellent opportunity but only for the correct candidate. You will have 6 CAs(SA) reporting into you. They are all group accountants. They all know consolidations and they all understand IFRS. You need to review their work at a very high level. You must not accept what Hyperion is telling you – you should question it. You need to be exceptional at IFRS – and understand the consolidation of a large corporation. This group offers 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th cheques. They offer international travel. They are number 30 in their industry globally and intend to move to number 10 spot and can do so. Their culture is what attracts people. They have quiet offices and a pleasant working environment. They look for professionals who have not moved from job to job. Their own people remain in the group. This position is not a pure consolidation/ IFRS and Hyperion position – it is varied. This is a relaxed friendly open-door environment. It is a large corporation but it feels more like a family organization. They pay for your studies. Do not expect overtime work even though it is a financial position. After a year only then would they expect you to work late, perhaps one week a year when it is year-end. They have a young team. You need to have your BCom at least and ideally, Hons Articles. 2 to 3 years of working experience in commerce would be ideal. Tax and VAT experience would secure the role. Advanced Excel is essential. It is an urgent position but they can wait a month if necessary. Cognos ideal.
