A leading organisation with operations across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its finance team in Midrand.
The business operates one of the continent’s most technologically advanced fleets of equipment, sourcing the latest generation machinery from leading global suppliers. The ideal candidate will have completed SAIPA articles, followed by approximately 4 years of post-article financial accounting experience. This role requires a confident, commercially minded individual with a strong personality who can work effectively across the business and take ownership of key financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyse monthly and annual financial statements
- Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators (KPIs)
- Provide financial insights into trends, budget variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Coordinate month-end and year-end reporting processes
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve financial discrepancies
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor actual performance against budget and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
- Prepare for external audits and respond to audit queries
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation and disposals
- Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Ensure accurate calculation and submission of VAT and other statutory taxes
Requirements:
- BCom Accounting degree or equivalent
- Completed SAIPA articles
- Approximately 4 years’ post-article financial accounting experience
- Strong financial reporting and reconciliation skills
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
- Good understanding of VAT and statutory compliance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Confident personality with the ability to work independently and build strong relationships across the business
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines
